August 2014 Back to School Edition

Several volunteers and staff personnel will be helping children find the correct room on the first day of school. The school day will begin at 8:05 a.m. and end at 3:10 p.m. Students should not arrive at the school before 8:00 a.m.

The Wildcat Connection will be handed out every other Thursday to Waterford Elementary students. The informational page will contain interesting school news about students, staff, and upcoming events. Be sure to remind your children to bring the information home after school every other Thursday. Additional information will be sent home as needed.

A Parent/Student Handbook will be given to students on the first day of school. Take time to read the handbook and discuss it with your child.

Students entering the 7th grade must have a vaccine for measles, mumps, and rubella. If your 7th grade son/daughter has not received this vaccine, please call the Washington County Health Department (374-2782) or your family physician immediately for an appointment.

Parents are to call the school or send a note whenever their child will be absent that day. If we do not hear from you we must contact you at home or at work. (High school: 984-2373 or Elementary: 984-2342).

Ohio State Law and our local Board Policy forbid school employees from dispensing medicine to students. If it is absolutely necessary for your child to have medicine at school we must have the following: (1) A note from the parent stating the exact amount, the time medicine should be given and specific directions; (2) A signed form from your doctor stating the name of the medicine, exact dosage, duration and possible side effects. The prescription bottle will not be enough; (3) Send only enough medicine for one dose.

The Elementary P.T.O. is hosting a Meet the Teacher Night on Monday, August 18, 2014. It will be held from 6:00-6:45 p.m. at the elementary school. You will be able to go to your homeroom, meet your teacher/teachers, find your desk, and you may bring in your school supplies. At 6:45 p.m. meet in the Cooper Annex for a Back to School rally. This event will replace the Open House originally held in
September. Refreshments will be served in the cafeteria. See you there!
