WE'RE BACK!! This is a really hectic and exciting time of the year at school. Students are happy to see friends and to start a new year in a new classroom. This is the first issue of our bi-weekly Wildcat Connection newsletter. It will go home every other Thursday and hopefully you will take time to read our news

HANDOUTS - Your child received several handouts the first day of school. Please get the emergency cards back as soon as possible. Give us more than one number that we can call. We may need to reach you quickly. If you plan to apply for free or reduced lunch try to get it in soon. If your child was approved last year we can temporarily continue for a while, but we must have a new application each year.

EARLY ARRIVALS - Students arriving at school before 8:00 a.m. are to wait outside the front door during suitable weather until the bell rings. Buses will unload at 8:00 a.m. Parents who bring children to school must use the side parking lot by the cafeteria to drop them off or pick them up p.m. (This includes Jr. high students.) The tardy bell rings at 8:20 a.m. School is dismissed starting at 3:05. NO PARKING IN THE FRONT PARKING LOT. That area is used for bus loading and unloading. Please be considerate and not park in the handicap stalls. We have students and adults who need those spaces. If you are picking your child up from school, do not wait outside the classrooms. Wait in the hall by the office or outside the entrance.

ABSENCE - Please send a note or call the office before 9:00 a.m. if your child will be absent (984-2342). Mrs. Ball will be available by 7:45 a.m. or you may leave a message anytime on the voice mail. We also need a written excuse or doctor's slip when they return. If we do not hear from you, office personnel will call you at home or work. If we cannot contact you, the absence will be unexcused.

NURSE NOTES: Remember to get a copy of the shot record on your 7th grade student verifying that they have received Tdap booster. Td (tetanus) alone does not meet the requirement because it does not protect against pertussis.

LUNCH - Student lunch price is $1.60, reduced price is 40 cents. Extra milk is 30 cents. In an emergency, students may charge lunch. However, five charges is the limit allowed. Breakfast is 60 cents and must be paid (no charges). It would be a big help for teachers if you could send the right amount. At $1.60 change is scarce.

PTO - Thanks to all who worked in the PTO booth at the Waterford Fair. Your help was much appreciated. PTO meetings are usually held the second Monday of each month right after school in the library. Open house for our school is scheduled for Sept. 17th at 7:00 p.m.

DISMISSAL - Students will not be released to anyone other than a parent without a note or call from the parent. We must have a note or call if they are to ride another bus (home with another student, daycare, etc.) If you wish to pick your child up after school, be on time. If we do not hear otherwise, your child will be put on the bus. If you need to pick your child up mid-day, you must come to the office to sign them out. Office personnel will get your child for you. For safety reasons, all doors are kept locked except the front door by the office.
